On the outside of this cabinet is red paint with white porcelain knobs. The top drawer measures 18" wide x 9 1/2" deep x 2 3/4" high. Also in the top cabinet you can see there is an old lock inside the drawer and then outside you can see where the key would have gone- it has been painted over. We do not have the key. The three bottom drawers measure 9 1/2" deep x 16 3/4" wide x 1 1/2" high. Total cabinet measures 19 3/4" wide x 11" deep(not counting the knobs) x 12 1/4" high. It weighs 14 lbs. On the front of the bottom drawer there are two holes- they do go through to the other side. I'm not sure what this was for- ... more most likely a name plate of some sort or maybe an old handle. In all three of the drawers inside- in the back of the drawer there are holes that go all the way through. The hole is also inside the top drawer under the lid. This was likely to lock the drawers. The person would have a rod(not included) that would slide down from the top and lock each drawer in place. Then. By locking the lid with the key(not included) the entire cabinet could be locked up safe! It may have been for a shop owner or perhaps for someone who kept valuables in their home and didn't want any sticky fingers walking off with their goods! Once the cabinet was all locked up, it was easy to carry without losing the drawers by grabbing ahold of the nice brass handles on each side.
